Booking.com price dropped after you booked
To get a lower price on a Booking.com stay, book the same room again at the new rate with free cancellation, wait for the confirmation, then cancel the old booking.

The steps
Book the lower rate on Booking.com, then cancel the old reservation.
- 1Book the same room at the new priceSign in first so you see Genius prices. Same dates, same room, a rate with free cancellation, at the lower price.
- 2Wait for the new confirmation email
- 3Cancel the old reservationSign in at booking.com and open it, or use the change or cancel link in your original email. Without an account you may need the confirmation number and the PIN from that email. Look for the cancellation email afterwards.
Good to know
- If the old booking earns a reward in your Booking.com Wallet, such as Credits paid after your stay, cancelling it removes that reward. Check your Wallet first.
Four rules that keep you safe
- Book the new room first and see its confirmation before you cancel anything. If the lower price disappears while you switch, you still have your room.
- Same hotel, same dates, same room type, beds and meals. A different room is a different price.
- Never swap a booking with free cancellation for a prepaid, non-refundable one.
- Leave yourself time. Switch well before the free-cancellation deadline, not the night before.
Questions
Where is my Booking.com PIN?
In your original confirmation email from Booking.com, next to the confirmation number.
How do I know the old booking is cancelled?
Booking.com sends a cancellation email. Look for it before you consider the switch done.
Is the price lower somewhere else?
Usually not by much. The same room tends to cost about the same on the hotel’s site and the big travel sites; the saving comes from the price falling after you book.
